For some reason, the theater was extremely crowded that night.
The heavyset Jewish manager met Dorian, Lord Henry, and Basil at the entrance. He was smiling broadly and nervously.
He personally escorted them to their private box, acting both proud and overly polite. He waved his jeweled hands around and spoke loudly as they walked.
Dorian disliked him more than ever.
Dorian felt as though he had come searching for someone beautiful and magical like Miranda from The Tempest, only to be welcomed by Caliban instead.
Lord Henry, on the other hand, claimed to like the manager.
He even insisted on shaking his hand and told him that he was honored to meet a man who had managed to discover a true genius while somehow losing money over a poet.
